Who We Are
Since 2008, researchers, professors and students of the Center for Mathematical Research (CIMAT), the Autonomous University of Sinaloa (UAS), the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), and the University of Guanajuato have organized various events and carried out research on the theory of random matrices, free probability and non-commutative probability.
Three researchers began organizing academic activities around the Inter-Institutional Seminar on Random Matrices (SIMA) with the participation of professors and students from a variety of institutions around the country. Some of these students went on to do doctorates on these topics either in Mexico or overseas and several of them have rejoined this community as researchers.
Our community currently comprises nine researchers from CIMAT, UAS and UNAM along with colleagues in research from a number of other institutions, plus numerous Mexican students based in both Mexico and abroad.
Sixteen students have now concluded either their graduate or undergraduate theses in this group and several more are currently working on theirs.
